League presidents are scheduled to discuss the topic early next week at their annual September meetings, but it is not the first time the topic has been discussed by the group, nor has the meeting been scheduled specifically to address expansion. The current buyout for an ACC team to leave the conference, according to both sources, is between $10 million to $13 million.

ACC officials, presidents and athletic directors have said repeatedly that all 12 schools are fully committed to the current membership. There is no indication that has changed, but an increase to the current buyout would force schools to stand behind their word and make it more costly to leave the ACC.

Any change related to conference membership in the ACC’s constitution or bylaws happens at the presidential level.

Officials at the ACC could not be reached for comment.
