Chicagoland Speedway will be the site for the kickoff of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup for the second straight year during the 2012 season.
The Joliet, Ill., facility will host the NASCAR Spring Cup weekend Sept. 15-16, 2012, beginning with the Nationwide Series race on Saturday followed by the Geico 400 on Sunday.
“We are honored to have been selected once again to host the debut race in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup,” Chicagoland Speedway president Scott Paddock said in a statement. “It is certainly a privilege to host the start of the playoffs for one of the most watched and followed sports in the United States.
“Being chosen to host the debut race in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup has proved to be an incredibly compelling platform for our fans and partners. We look forward to building on the momentum and excitement from our inaugural 2011 Chase weekend that is taking place on Sept. 16-18.”
The 2011 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup begins Sept. 18 at Chicagoland Speedway with the GEICO 400.
