SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — Validating his big-figure win in the James Marvin Stakes opening day, Jackson Bend ($8.90) split horses rallying from off the pace in midstretch and kicked clear to win Saturday’s Grade 1 Forego Stakes by 3 1/4 lengths under Corey Nakatani.

Trained by Nick Zito, Jackson Bend settled into stride well off a fast pace of 22.09 and 44.45 seconds contested by 5-2 favorite Sidney’s Candy, Hamazing Destiny, and Escrow Kid. He wrested command after six furlongs in 1:09.20, and drove clear to win the seven-furlong race in 1:22.08 seconds on a fast track.

Jersey Town swung out approaching the stretch after stalking the leaders inside, rallied to loom a threat in midstretch and saved the place by a head over deep-closing Aikenite.

It was one length farther back to Hamazing Destiny in fourth. The order of finish was completed by Golddigger’s Boy, Escrow Kid, Regal Ransom, Sidney’s Candy, and Rule by Night.
